Engineer/Scientist/Geologist III (Quakertown, PA)
POSITION TO BE FILLED IMMEDIATELY
An Engineer/Scientist III will perform a wide range of duties related to the testing, design, installation, and operation of soil & groundwater remediation systems. The position requires a conscientious self-starter who is able to adapt within a dynamic office and field environment. Travel and field work is required. Salary will be commensurate with credentials.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementation of field activities (including site work, drilling, pilot testing, maintenance, etc.) and supervision of staff and/or subcontractors. Includes work plan development relating to the execution of field activities.
- Perform and supervise hydrogeologic investigations and site characterization efforts.
- Supervise drilling and well installation, and perform geological characterization of soil cores and soil sampling.
- Conduct and supervise general environmental sampling (low-flow sampling, air monitoring, etc.)
- Perform thorough analysis and interpretation of geochemical/hydrogeologic data and system operational data.
- Prepare technical reports related to scientific and operational aspects of field operations.
- Conceptual design and modeling of remediation systems. May include analytical and numerical model simulations and contaminant fate and transport evaluations.
- Engineering design, equipment specification, bid document preparation and subcontracting.
- Remediation system construction oversight.
- Perform and supervise chemical oxidation treatment (pilot and full-scale operations).
- System operation and maintenance and system optimization. Equipment troubleshooting capabilities and mechanical aptitude a plus.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements are a BS or MS degree in engineering, geology or a related technical field, OSHA 40-hour health and safety certification, and minimum of 3 years of applicable experience. Additional experience with in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) technologies is highly desirable. Attention to detail and excellent writing/communication skills are a must. Hands-on attitude and mechanical aptitude is a plus. Candidate must have good computer skills that include use of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Applied experience in the use of groundwater flow and contaminant fate and transport models is a plus.
Candidate must also be authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction as to duration, and pass a background check, drug test and OSHA-based medical physical.
